The San Benito County Office of Education is excited to announce that Hernan Chavez, a student from the Pinnacles Court and Community School won the local Hollister Rotary Speech contest on January 25, 2016. Hernan competed against nine other high school students! The San Benito County Office of Education is very proud of Hernan and his accomplishment. He will be competing at the next level in San Jose on March 3, 2016!

Why Talk. Read. Sing? 90% of a child's brain is developed during the first 5 years of life. More than 80% of the brain is developed by the time a child is 3 years old AND research shows that the first 3 months of life are one of the most important interaction times for emotional development. Did you know that there are more children in the 0 to 5 year old range in California than any other state in our nation and the vast majority of these children who are behind at ages 3, 4, and 5 and then in kindergarten, will never catch up.
