PENT

The Positive Environments, Network of Trainers (PENT) is a California Positive Behavior Initiative designed to provide information and resources for educators striving to achieve high educational outcomes through the use of proactive positive strategies. Evidence-based positive practices and helpful information is disseminated statewide through the PENT website pent.ca.org.

PENT was co-founded by Diana Browning Wright and Deborah Holt, in a joint effort between the Diagnostic Center, Southern California (DCSC) and the Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).

The PENT website also contains a link to the BIP Desk Reference Manual. The BIP Desk Reference Manual is a comprehensive resource and training manual for developing behavior intervention plans and structuring school environments to prevent behavior problems. The manual   outlines all the “Big Ideas” in behavior and how to write and evaluate a comprehensive behavior plan.

PENT’s Guide to Behavior Terminology is a great quick reference to help teachers and parents understand definitions associated with basic behavior terminology. The guide also provides references to federal law, state education code, and best practices as well as tips for determining when each is required.
