Literacy

San Benito County Office of Education is proud to sponsor our Building Bridges 2 Literacy Initiative, which promotes literacy in all content areas. Literacy is a foundational skill that profoundly impacts students from transitional kindergarten (TK) through 12th grade, shaping their academic success, personal growth, and future opportunities. Early literacy development in TK through elementary school builds essential skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, which are critical for understanding and engaging with the world. As students progress through middle and high school, strong literacy skills enable them to analyze complex texts, think critically, and communicate effectively across all subject areas. Literacy also fosters confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning, empowering students to become informed citizens and active participants in society. Investing in literacy at every grade level ensures that all students have the tools they need to thrive in school and beyond.
