Social Emotional Learning and PBIS
What Is Social Emotional Learning?
The San Benito County Office of Education (SBCOE) has been at the forefront of providing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) professional development opportunities for educators in San Benito County. As part of the CalHOPE Student Support Grrant, SBCOE has sustained its Social Emotional Learning Community of Practice (SEL CoP), which was initiated during the 2020-21 school year. This collaborative professional learning space is open to Teachers, Classified Staff, Administrators from all eleven districts, and Community Members. The CoP offers ongoing networking and sharing of best practices, highlighting successful SEL efforts in the community and teaching participants how to implement SEL practices effectively.
The following schools have participated in the countywide SEL CoP: Anzar High School, Bitterwater Tully, Tres Pinos, San Andreas High School, Cerra Vista, Ladd Lane, Hollister Dual Language Academy, and Rancho Santana. These schools engaged in professional learning opportunities such as Integrating SEL in the Classroom and Aligning Restorative Practices to Strengthen SEL Implementation.
